Waterfowl Hunting

North Dakota is considered the “Go To Place” for Duck and Goose hunters from all over the country. Baldhill Creek Adventures is located in the heart of the Central Flyway. Each year hundreds of thousands of Ducks and geese travel through our region on their annual migration south.

Canada goose

Early Season Canada Goose

In recent years the Greater Canada Goose population has exploded all across the Mid-West. Eastern North Dakota's pothole and agricultural region boosts increasing numbers of breeding pairs successfully producing on average 7-10 goslings per year. Annually farmers in this region have reported hundreds of thousands of dollars in crop damage over the past few years. Due to the continued problems, the North Dakota Game and Fish Department (NDG&F) has initiated a depredation early Canada Goose season that typically begins in mid-August and ends in Mid-September. This is a great hunt to kick off your waterfowl hunting year as it is one of the earliest seasons available. We typically starts hunting around the 20-24 of August (depending on the year) each season to assure bird maturity and feeding patterns are established. This is an exciting hunt and daily bag limits are 6-10+ Honkers per day. These hunts are conducted in agricultural fields from layout blinds and full bodied decoys or in shallow ponds with floaters. This is the ultimate hunt for sportsmen looking to decoy these majestic large birds during the early season.  After your morning hunt you may enjoy an afternoon of golf or site seeing in the area. The official season dates & limits will be announced by the NDG&F sometime in late July and early August of each year.

Regular Season Waterfowl

Baldhill Creek Adventures offers some of the finest duck and goose hunting opportunities in the upper Midwest during the month of October. With access to thousands of acres of some of the finest wetlands and agricultural areas in the state. Hunts are conducted with modern decoys and experienced guides to assure a successful hunt. Hunters may choose to hunt fields with modern layout blinds or decoy a variety of  species of ducks over water. We take waterfowl hunting very seriously and only offer 6 sets of dates during the regular season to allow our wetlands to rest. Our waterfowl hunts are often combined with upland hunting for pheasant. This combination hunt is one of the most popular hunts available in the upper mid-west.

Whitetail Hunts

Whitetail Hunts

Our Whitetail hunts take place along the scenic Sheyenne River Valley and Bald Hill Creek Valley of southeast North Dakota. Our hunting properties consist of river bottoms, rolling hills, CRP, tree rows, native grasses and wooded ravines. Our intense management practices have proven one thing; big bucks. We want to make sure our hunters are very comfortable while hunting thus our hunts are conducted out of sturdy ladder stands and box blinds over food plots, tree rows or wooded draws. Hunts are conducted in the morning and evening when the deer are moving from bedding to feeding areas. Over the past years shooting opportunities have been near 100% on trophy class deer. In order to maintain our trophy quality we limit our rifle hunts to 4 hunters per year and 12 archery hunters per year. We offer a 5 day early season that typically begins end of Aug or early September and a pre-rut/rut hunt that is the first week of November. Over the years our archery hunts have averaged around 130 – 140 inches with top end bucks over 160 and our rifle hunts have averaged 140 to 150 with top end bucks over 160 inches.

A Whitetail's Utopia

For nearly two decades, we have been developing our property with one thing in mind: big bucks. Each year we spend a great deal of time and money planting and maintaining several hundred acres of food plots consisting of corn, alfalfa, clover, and soybeans. In addition to food plots, we continuously supplement essential minerals year round to ensure maximum antler growth.

The Odds Are in Your Favor

Baldhill Creek Adventure specializes in archery whitetail deer hunting. We spend a great deal of time during the pre-season scouting to assure you the best opportunity for success. All our hunts are conducted using modern ground blinds and comfortable ladder stands. Since 2003, we are proud to say that we have consistently produced nearly 100% shooting opportunities on 120" - 175" P&Y bucks. We've had 60% success with archery and 95% success with rifle hunters over the past several years.

The State of North Dakota allows hunters to hunt over baited areas, so it is not uncommon to see several deer per outing. All hunts are conducted in the morning and evening when the deer are moving from bedding to feeding areas. Over the past years, shooting opportunities have been extremely high, and most patient hunters have a good chance at seeing a P&Y class buck. We only take a limited number of deer hunters every year to assure the quality of our bucks for years to come. Early booking is required.
